Trophy Cabinet
Wayne Poole racing is a winning team and our successes are featured here:
The 2021 Season | |
With Josh Fisher taking a year off, the team's hopes for outright victories rested in the hands of Ben Mitchell, driving the Richard Hudson-Evans owned and Classic Auction Review supported Van Diemen RF99 in the Castle Combe Formula Ford series. A promising start to the year was brought to a halt with a big accident in the late May round but Ben returned in August (pictured right) to take his first outright win.
At season's end Ben was third overall in the Combe Championship, backed up by James Colborn and Steve Bracegirdle in their Class C Van Diemens, who finished second and third in their Class and James taking a class win at the final round in September. The team rounded off the year with a successful Walter Hayes Trophy meeting at Silverstone in November where Josh Fisher, having his sole outing of the year, took a Heat win in fine style. In the Grand Final Ben took an impressive third while Josh, recovering from being knocked off the track in his Semi Final recovered to a strong fifth. Wins for Mitchell, Fisher and Colborn |

The 2020 Season | |
2020 was a difficult year with a season cut short by COVID-19.
Steve Bracegirdle and James Colborn took Class C race wins at Castle Combe but the highlight of the year was Ben Mitchell at the year end Walter Hayes Trophy meeting where he took a second and a win in the two Pre '82 races. The 2019 Season
2019 was another very successful year for WPR with Josh Fisher taking the Castle Combe Formula Ford Championship outright in the
Richard Hudson-Evans' Classic Auction Review sponsored Van Diemen JL14 pictured right (Mike Stokes).
Also at Castle Combe, Steve Bracegirdle and James Colborn took Class C race wins with their Van Diemens. Championship for Josh Fisher Wins for Fisher, Bracegirdle and Colborn |

The 2018 Season | |
The highlight of 2018 was Steve Bracegirdle (pictured right by Mike Stokes) winning Class C in the Castle Combe Formula Ford Championship, driving his
Van Diemen RF89.
Also at Castle Combe Josh Fisher took a couple of outright wins in the Richard Hudson-Evans' Classic Auction Review sponsored Van Diemen JL14 backed up by Class C wins from Steve Bracegirdle and, at the last event of tyhe year, Wayne Poole driving his Van Diemen RF88. The 2017 Season
2017 saw another super successful season for WPR. Josh Fisher took the outright Castle Combe Formula Ford title driving Richard Hudson-Evans'
Van Diemen JL14 with Steve Bracegirdle taking the Class C Championship at the same venue with his Van Diemen RF89. Josh was also looking set to take victory
in the prestigious Walter Hayes Trophy meeting at Silverstone at the end of the year. Josh won his heat and semi final and was in contention in the
final but was thwarted by yellow flags in the final lap and had to settle for second - his best result in the event.
During the year, complementing the wins by both Fisher and Bracegirdle, Andrew Higginbottom also showed well, taking a couple of Class C wins at Castle Combe and was still in contention for the Championship up until the final race of the season. The 2016 Season
2016 was a quiet year for WPR with plenty of podiums including a fine third for Josh Fisher at the Walter Hayes Trophy. Probably the most
memorable event of the year was the retirement of Pete Diccox after many successful years competing in Formula Ford with the WPR team - pictured right (Mike Stokes).

|
The 2015 Season | |
2015 was probably WPR's most successful season ever. Three (yes 3!) Championships along with plenty of outright wins,
class wins and podiums topped off with Josh fisher taking an outright win at Castle Combe (in a Class C Reynard) and a front
running (some say the front running) performance at the WHT.
Back in the sixties and seventies it wasn't unusual for one driver and team to win multiple Championships - there were so many of them. But since then it has become unusual but that is just what WPR and Josh Fisher did by winning the Caslte Combe Class C Formula Ford Championship in the Richard Hudson-Evans Reynard 89F and the Oulton Park FF Post 89 Formula Ford Championship in the similarly owned Van Diemen RF99. After struggling a little with the Mygale SJ00, Calum McHale swapped to the softer Van Diemen RF89 and found immediate success at Oulton Park and going on the win the Pre '90 Championship after a nail biting finale on the tie break. Andrew Higginbottom is maturing as race drive and, depsite only having a limited number of outings in 2015 he made the podium on three occasions including a memorable day at Combe in July when WPR took all three podium places in Class C with Josh and Andrew being joined by Steve Bracegirdle. Towards the end of the year, Rory Smith joined the team, driving Father Ray's Van Diemen, and quickly showed good pace with podiums at the final Combe event and the WHT.Guy Parr had occasional outings in his Fiesta managing a Class 2nd early in the season. The 2014 Season
2014 was a relatively quiet year for WPR with just class wins at Combe for Steve Bracegirdle and Oulton for Josh Fisher the
standout successes. Other moments of note included podiums for Andrew Higginbottom, Don Boyack, Guy Parr, Olly Bull and Pete Diccox.

The 2013 Season | |
2013 saw wins for Wayne Poole at Oulton Park and Class wins at Castle Combe for Pete Diccox, Andrew Higginbottom and Steve Bracegirdle.
Both Wayne and Steve had good runs in the Oulton and Combe Pre '90 Formula Ford Championships but were ultimately disappointed finishing in second places.

The 2012 Season | |
The highlight of the 2012 season was a heat win for Josh Fisher at the Walter Hayes Trophy
in Tom Margetson's Reynard 89FF. Steve Bracegirdle took third in Class C in the Castle Combe Formula Ford Championship and
enjoyed class race wins along with Olly Bull.

getting to grips with his car and GT racing Guy took his first class win at Anglesey in September and
quickly followed that up with another class win and an outright win at the

The 2009 Season | |
Class wins and the Castle Combe Class C Championship for Tom Margetson. After many
years in Van Diemens and Reynards, which saw plenty of speed and class wins but
often a fair bit of bad luck it all came good for Tom in 2009.

The 2008 Season | |
2008 was a standout year for Wayne Poole Racing. Winning the Castle Combe Formula Ford Championship
outright and Class A with Josh Fisher in the WPR Mygale SJ01 that had been painstaingly developed
over a season and a half.Numerous wins and a second place at the season ending
Walter Hayes Trophy at Silverstone marked a dominat year. Josh is pictured leading Ben Norton's Spectrum and brother Felix's Swift SC92 and proudly bearing race number 1 as leader of the Castle Combe Championship. Combe Formula Ford Championship for Josh Fisher |

Not content with one Fisher and WPR driver winning Class A Felix Fisher took
Class B in the Castle Combe Formula Ford Championship and took many class wins and even an outright
win along the way. Felix Fisher pictured in his Wayne Poole Racing entered Swift SC92. Combe Class B Formula Ford Championship for Felix Fisher |
|
2008 was a really exceptional year for the team who, in May, achieved what is believed to be the unique
feat of winning all three Formula Ford classes in the same race at Castle Combe with the two Fishers taking classes A and B and Olly Bull taking
Class C in his Van Diemen RF89. Not content with this the team repeated the feat in August with, this time, Tom Margetson
taking Class C in his Reynard 89FF. Olly, Josh & Felix celebrating their triple win and, below, Tom, Felix and Josh repeat the feat. Wins for Olly Bull & Tom Margetson |

The 2007 Season | |
2007 was the year that the WPR team finally turned the Mygale SJ01 into a winner
with Josh Fisher taking a couple of wins at Combe and a heat win at the Walter Hayes. In fact
Josh was looking a strong bet for the WHT until punted out of second place in the final.
Wayne Poole himself, having a 'one off' outing, scored a Class C win at Combe in the summer.
