Bracegirdle and Higginbottom score for WPR
The WPR team had brought along a trio of Van Diemens for Steve Bracegirdle, Pete Diccox and Andrew Higginbottom as well as the Nemesis GT for Steve Bracegirdle.
Morning practice was very wet and the Formula Fords only managed a handful of laps to to a lengthy safety car period. In Class C the Souley Motorsport entry of David Cobbold was way ahead of the rest of the Class leaving Steve and Andrew to fight for second. They were to line up 15th and 16th, just a second apart with Pete a little further back.
The race took place on a much drier track although it was still a little damp. Pete made another of his super starts, making up so many places that he arrived at Quarry on the first lap alongside Steve and a couple of other drivers. So, at the end of the first lap Pete, Steve and Andrew (making up time after a poorish start) crossed the line nose to tail but already some way behind Class winner Cobbold. For the next few laps Pete held off Steve, sliding the car all over the place and having his best drive of the season by his own reckoning. At the end of lap 5 Steve made a move down the inside at Camp and took over 2nd place in Class C.
Andrew was catching Pete but was looking likely to run out of laps until Lap 12 when the large lead group caught Pete to lap him at Bobbies. After letting a couple through Pete had to take the line for the final part of the corner and got tagged, spinning into a disappointed retirement. This left Andrew to complete the podium places in "yet another third place" although after the race he was sufficiently encouraged to come back in 2015 for more races.
In the Sports Racing car race Steve qualified in mid field and after an early tussle with a couple of other cars emerged in sixth place.
