Surprise podium for Guy Parr

For the Father's Day race meeting at Castle Combe on June 14th the Wayne Poole Racing Team were represented by Steve Bracegirdle and Pete Diccox (Van Diemen RF89s) in the Formula Ford race and Guy Parr in his Fiesta for the Saloon Car race.

Guy missed practice and therefore had to start the race right at the back of the 32 car grid. Overtaking 11 cars on the first lap and another half dozen over the course of the next two laps, Guy quickly moved into the top half of the field and continued his progress to finish eighth overall and second, plus fastest lap, in Class C!

Things didn't go quite so well in the Formula Ford race with Steve qualifying 15th and Pete 17th. Pete had hardly been in the cat since last October and wasn't really race fir so decided to come in after 4 laps. Steve had a misfire in practice and despite the team changing everything they could it returned during the race after looking like it was fixed. Steve soldiered on to the end however, finishing 15th and collecting a few Class C points.
