Class win for Parr & podiums for Fisher and Bracegirdle (more photos)

The late May Bank Holiday meeting at Castle Combe on May 27 included double header events for the Castle Combe Formula Ford Championship as well as the 750MC's Hot Hatch series.

The WPR team had their usual Formula Ford contingent, led by Josh Fisher in the Richard Hudson-Evans' Van Diemen JL14 and Steve Bracegirdle and James Colborn in their Van Diemen RF89s. Unfortunately, half way through practice, another competitor made a misguided attempt to pass James on the entry to Bobbies and a touch of wheels forcing the Van Diemen into a roll and cause serious rear end damage - enough to finish James' event.

Josh was quickly on the pace and qualified on pole for the first race and third for the second. Steve qualified 14th and 12th for the two races and second in Class C. In Race one Josh led away from the start and for the first five laps before losing the lead to Luke Cooper in the works Swift. Despite a strong fight back, including a 1m 09.34s fastest lap, he had to settle for a close second. Steve, meanwhile had a quiet race to finish 13th and second in Class C.

Race two saw Josh run in fourth for the first few laps before making a move on Lap 4 to take third and begin to press for second. Such is the nature of the closely matched front runners in Formula Ford that one very small mistake is all it takes and in this case it was a moment through Camp which let Josh's brother, Felix through. Despite repeated attempts to close the gap it wasn't to be and a fourth place finish was the result and the loss of the Championship lead. Steve had another lonely race, lapping consistently for another 13th place finish and second in Class C.

In the 750MC Hot Hatch races Guy Parr qualified his Mini Cooper 23rd (out of 37) and made a good start going on to finish well in 14th and win the Invitation Class with fastest lap. As Guy was also due to appear in the Castle Combe Hot Hatch event he decided to sit out Race two.

In the Castle Combe Hot Hatch race Steve Bracegirdle joind Guy Parr and they qualified 19th and 20th in their Mini Coopers with them going on to finish 13th and 16th repsectively.
